It is estimated that between 75 and 199 million tonnes of plastics currently pollute our oceans, mainly plastic bottles. Virgin polyester is a 100% plastic material, made from polyethylene and condensed polymer, synthetic and chemical components. The manufacturing of these materials releases a lot of plastic waste and micro-particles which end up in the oceans, creating an environmental disaster. Only 1% of textiles are currently recycled, so it's high time for the fashion industry to deal with its own waste in a sustainable and circular way.
To address this negative impact on the environment, LO NEEL only uses recycled polyester either upcycled or created from recycled plastic bottles.
The manufacturing process of our recycled polyester:
We exclusively recycle polyester fabrics to give life to new LO NEEL creations, thanks to the upcycling method, as is the case with our Enya pants. Our second source of polyester comes directly from recycled plastic bottles. They are harvested at sea then crushed into small flakes before being transformed into pellets. These are melted to create a thread which will be woven to form a fabric and finally, will give life to a new LO NEEL piece like our magnificent set, the Alice jacket and the Aloa pants.
LO NEEL , protection of beings and nature:
For the brand's creators, it is essential to act now. At our own level, we can all have an impact on this environmental pollution. By recycling our materials, LO NEEL contributes to cleaning the oceans by eliminating the waste that pollutes them and protecting underwater life . We select the best workshops, which share our ethical and eco-responsible values , and which have unique know-how, in order to reduce our impact on biodiversity and the environment. By choosing vegan and ecological materials, we protect all living beings from human cruelty. It is for all these reasons that Loane and Frédérique created LO NEEL .
