Upcycling: a solution to clothing waste

Clothing waste has become one of the biggest ecological issues in our time. Every year, nearly 100 billion items of clothing are produced and sold worldwide, but only 30% of our wardrobes are actually worn. By 2030, production is expected to increase by 63%, while more than 12 tonnes of unsold clothing from fast fashion brands is thrown away or not recycled. Working conditions in these brands' factories are often poor and dangerous, with unsanitary buildings. The use of chemicals in the manufacturing of clothing is also a concern for the health of workers.

It is for all these reasons that LO NEEL decided to use processes of ecological production And ethical , such as upcycling .

But what is upcycling?

This is a form of textile recycling which consists of giving a second life to a garment, an accessory or a product intended to be thrown away. Instead of transforming it, we deconstruct it to make a new object. Upcycling is therefore both ethical and artistic, because it allows you to create original, atypical and unique pieces. This method has a positive impact on the environment, because it avoids more than 40 tonnes of CO2 emissions , save 50,000 meters of fabric and save more than 48 million liters of water . By opting for this technique, we promote the circular economy and reduce textile waste. The added value of LO NEEL is that all upcycled parts are produced in a family and eco-responsible workshop in Italy .

LO NEEL and its upcycling creations:

LO NEEL creates exclusive upcycling pieces by giving a second life to fabrics and clothing to create unique pieces. We work with cooperatives and Italian fabric salons renowned for their quality. We let's collaborate also with luxury houses , including the prestigious Givenchy house. LO NEEL is an ethical and ecological brand, our capsules are therefore produced in limited quantities for reasoned consumption. The Céline sweater is the flagship piece of the upcycling category: a revisited sailor top inspired by the colors of India!
