Rose Petal Fiber — The Vegan and Poetic Alternative to Silk
Share
Since its beginnings, LO NEEL has championed conscious, vegan, and refined fashion. Our creations are designed to combine aesthetics, ethics, and innovation . Among the sustainable and committed materials we use, rose petal fiber occupies a very special place: it is a vegan, soft, and respectful alternative, which seduces with its elegance and its history.
Why look for an alternative to traditional silk?
Traditional silk is a textile of animal origin, produced for nearly 2000 years in China. It comes from the slime of the Bombyx caterpillar , known as the “silkworm,” which spins its cocoon to transform into a butterfly.
But in most cases, these cocoons are boiled alive to preserve the length of the thread. This process involves the systematic killing of millions of caterpillars to produce a luxurious textile, at the cost of often-ignored animal suffering.
Worse still, some industries go further, genetically modifying silkworms to produce fibers derived from spider genes, which are said to be more resistant. This race for performance creates unnatural practices, far removed from any ethical considerations.
A solution: rose petal fiber
Faced with these excesses, LO NEEL has chosen an alternative, plant-based route: rose petal fiber , an ECO VERA certified material that respects the environment and living beings.
The manufacturing process
-
Harvesting the petals
This fiber comes from natural waste collected at the end of flowering from rose bushes grown without chemical fertilizers, mainly in India, by committed partners. -
Cellulose transformation
Cellulose is extracted from unused petals, as well as from the inner bark of the stems. This natural component is then carefully processed. -
Worsted Spinning
The resulting fiber is extremely fine and delicate , requiring tight spinning on a spinning wheel, called Worsted . This ancient technique gives the material its luxurious, fluid and silky appearance, while preserving its robustness.
The result? A soft, light, breathable material, with a feel comparable to silk , without any recourse to animal exploitation.
LO NEEL, between romanticism and conscience
True to its signature, LO NEEL has chosen this exceptional fiber for its poetic collection.
Why the rose? Because it embodies romance, passion, and timeless elegance . Because, born in Paris , the city of love, our brand could only be inspired by the sweetness of this iconic flower.
Our signature styles— the Erika Tabacco dress and the Emerald dress —are made from this fabric. Their fluidity, refinement, and eco-consciousness make them unique. Their success has made them LO NEEL wardrobe staples and our community's favorites.
One material, one vision
Choosing rose petal fiber is taking a step further towards a fashion in harmony with nature , without compromising on quality or style. It is adopting an innovative material , full of meaning and softness.
At LO NEEL, we believe in fashion that respects all living beings , that tells a story, that moves — and that does good for them.
