# 6 Eco-tips, ocean pollution due to fashion

Through this series of articles, we will offer you a weekly insight into the ecological impact of clothing production around the world. With LO NEEL, we are committed to the planet, our Mother Earth, which welcomes and shelters us. We refuse to take part, from near or far, in its pollution, degradation and destruction.

It seemed important to us to denounce abusive practices but also to propose sustainable solutions on a daily basis. We hope that this information will help you to better understand the underbelly of mass production in the fashion industry.

The LO NEEL team also accompanies you in an individual ecological awareness, by proposing to each article of this series of eco-tips to be carried out daily. By following them, this will allow you to have a healthier and more ethical behaviour and consumption.

Here is the eco-tips # 6!

Sac plastique dans le ciel

190,000 tons of plastic microfibers from our clothes end up in the oceans every year.

Solution: choose clothing made from natural or recycled fibres.

Through LO NEEL parts, we offer a plurality of innovative materials. They are all natural or recycled. We have made sure that they have been produced in a healthy and ecological way. Thus, the fibers that make up our pieces are organic and cannot, therefore, pollute the planet. For example, our ALLY dress is made from soy fibres. Our ARTY banana is made from recycled polyester, i.e. recycled plastic bottles. Finally, our ALEK belt is made from pineapple fibre which replaces animal leather. It is also called vegetable leather.

In order to fight against this type of pollution in the oceans, we advise you to buy eco-responsible clothing. To ensure the reliability of brands and materials, look carefully at the labels on clothing and make sure that the brands are transparent as to how they were produced.

Summer is coming and unfortunately so are polluting practices. When you are getting ready to swim in the sea or ocean, do not apply sunscreen to your skin. It will not protect you since the water will carry it away. On the other hand, it is extremely polluting and harmful to the marine ecosystem. When you are on the beach or walking along the shoreline, do not throw your garbage or cigarette butts into the water. Remember to take a bag with you and put your rubbish in it if you can’t find a garbage can near where you are. Be aware of the behaviour of others and don’t hesitate to protect nature.
