LO NEEL: slow fashion for the climate
Share
Global warming is a major issue of our time. The textile industry, the second most polluting sector in the world after oil, contributes massively to CO₂ emissions, water pollution, and resource depletion: in France, nearly 700,000 tons of clothing are thrown away each year.
Faced with fast fashion and rampant pollution, where unsold stock can reach several billion euros in value (H&M recorded €3.5 billion of unsold stock in 2018), consumers and designers aspire to a more responsible, fairer, and more planet-friendly fashion.
1. Innovative and plant-based materials
LO NEEL, a premium eco-vegan brand founded in 2019 by a mother and daughter, focuses on natural, organic, recycled or upcycled materials, excluding all animal materials.
-
Pineapple fiber (Piñatex®) : alternative to animal leather, up to 10 times more resistant , zero contamination of land and water.
-
Soy fiber , GOTS organic cotton , FSC certified viscose , rose petals , mulberry leaves ...
Vegetable dyes are also preferred, limiting the use of polluting chemicals.
2. Sustainable production & carbon control
The brand adopts short European production circuits (France, Italy) as well as in Indian workshops under fair conditions, thus optimizing transport and respecting workers' rights.
It is part of a slow fashion approach: limited, timeless, interchangeable collections — less waste.
3. Circular economy & controlled end of life
LO NEEL collaborates with eco-organizations such as Re-Fashion (textile end-of-life management) and participates in the Parisian Fashion Green Hub . It also encourages upcycling , giving new life to dormant materials and reducing waste (more than 40 tons of CO₂ avoided , 48 million liters of water saved ).
4. Transparency & certifications
LO NEEL holds the PETA Approved Vegan certification , a guarantee of 100% animal-free fashion. The LO NEEL brand was awarded the "Créatrices d'entreprise Fashion 2021" prize , presented at the annual ceremony organized by the Chanel Foundation and Force Femmes.
5. Societal commitment and humanity
More than a brand, LO NEEL aims to be a committed player with its participation in the UAMEP collective "Une Autre Mode Est Possible" , with actions for a more honest and united fashion.
