LO NEEL recycles
The recycling process consists of transforming non-reusable textiles into new products, rags, geotextiles, fibers or composite plastics using mechanical or chemical processes. It offers multiple closed-loop outlets (applied to the Textile Sector).
In 2020, 34% of textiles collected and sorted were recycled (source: RA Refashion 2021). A figure which tends to increase due to the growing share of non-reusable textiles collected by operators. To cope with these volumes and recycle more, the material sorting stage occupies an essential place. Indeed, knowing the material composition of products (cotton, polyester, wool, etc.) is an essential step in their recycling.
Automated recognition technologies are essential for developing an efficient recycling sector on a large scale, because they allow more reliable and rapid characterization of non-reusable textiles.
Key words to understand recycling
Chemical recycling:
It is the set of processes for decomposing fibers by chemical means to return to the basic constituents. These processes make it possible to reconstitute Recycled Raw Material (RPM) of equivalent quality to virgin material and are mainly developed to recycle synthetic and cellulosic fibers.
LO NEEL is a member of the RE_Fashion organization and an active brand for the recycling of materials, threads and fabrics.
