LO NEEL implique ses fournisseurs dans une démarche d'éco-conception

LO NEEL involves its suppliers in an eco-design approach

Suppliers are responsible for manufacturing the products or by-products sold by a company, so they play a vital role in reducing its environmental footprint. Their involvement in the environmental approach of their clients, and more precisely in the context of product eco-design efforts, is, in fact, essential.

However, brands, even large and proactive ones, can encounter difficulties in promoting sustainable development initiatives among their suppliers. To maximize their influence, it is possible to act on the following determinants:

  • the degree of formalization of commitments requested from suppliers and their control;
  • the arbitration between economic price requirements and environmental standards (in a logic of pure conformity or better environmental performance);
  • the nature of the commercial relationship between the actors (which can be based on a balance of economic power in an approach of strict compliance or, conversely, more focused on trust, and the “win-win” partnership);
  • raising supplier awareness of the benefits associated with implementing an environmental approach. For example: savings made thanks to eco-efficiency measures, anticipation of the rapid evolution of international standards, responses to the expectations of ever more ambitious contractors, etc.

In this context, LO NEEL has chosen to engage its suppliers, first in the overall improvement of their environmental practices, then, more gradually in a product eco-design approach, co-constructed with the most environmentally mature.
