LO NEEL committed player in reducing greenhouse gas emissions

The fashion industry is known to have a strong negative impact on the environment. We are increasingly informed of the consequences of its activities on the planet's resources and of the need to significantly modify its mechanisms and modes of operation.
How does the fashion industry contribute to GHG emissions?
LO NEEL is well aware that the fashion industry is responsible for around 10% of global greenhouse gas emissions. This represents more than the emissions from all international flights and maritime shipping combined. Fashion has an impact on the environment in terms of CO 2 emissions. It is also responsible for 35% of plastic microfibers released into the oceans. The clothing industry is also responsible for 20% of industrial water pollution.
We multiply this harmful environmental impact with the increasingly strong demand for clothing production.
Today, production rates are higher than ever. We now call it “fast fashion” or selling cheap, low quality clothing. It encourages the creation of new collections and new products. This is accompanied by the use of unsustainable materials and an increasing amount of waste. The timing of the production and retail phases is unsustainable. The collections are renewed every six months.
The result ? Thousands of unsold clothes are destroyed each year.
It is obvious that the fashion industry needs a revolution to reduce its environmental impact. It aligns with a more sustainable long-term trajectory.
LO NEEL is committed to slow fashion every day since the creation of the brand.
